Coaches are not psychotherapists
Be aware that coaching is not a like-for-like substitute for therapy, coaches are outcome and change focused so we (I) push clients harder than a therapist would. So, it is essential you have the readiness and psychological resources to be challenged and sometimes thrown out of your comfort zone. Coaching is sometimes used to supplement therapy as a way of putting into practice insights gained there. Suffice to say: a coach is not a psychotherapist.
Low-cost coaching is generally not suitable for people who...
- Struggle with active severe eating or anxiety disorders, depression or PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder).
- Have a history of, or currently exhibit symptoms of psychosis, bipolar affective disorder, borderline personality disorder, or antisocial personality disorder.
